Derrick is a device used to place overhead cranes, suspend traveling blocks, hooks, lifting rings, elevators, and other equipment during drilling or well repair, as well as to lift and store drill rods, oil pipes, and pumping rods.

The requirements for derrick are:

1) It should have sufficient strength, stiffness, and overall stability. To ensure the removal of a certain depth of drill pipe, casing, or tubing string

2) Sufficient working height and space, sufficient drilling floor area. The work height is high, the length of the vertical root is long, and the speed is fast, which can save time. The upper and lower bottoms of the wellhead should have necessary dimensions to install the overhead crane and ensure smooth operation of the traveling system equipment during lifting and lowering operations; Easy to arrange equipment on the drill floor, place tools, facilitate worker operation, and provide a good view for the driller.

3) It should ensure easy disassembly, safety, and quick movement. Therefore, the structure should be simple and lightweight, and segmented or integrated transportation, horizontal installation, and overall lifting and transportation methods should be used as much as possible
